Spring 2026 Travel Team Registration

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
1. To enter as a team, all team roster information must be submitted at the time of registration or rosters must be mailed in to include every player's name and e-mail address to H.Y.B.A., Inc., Attn: Team Roster Enclosed, P.O. 361, Ellicott City, MD 21041. Team Rosters must be delivered one week before the start of the upcoming season.
2. There is a registration deadline March 1 for the Spring Program and August 1 for the Fall Program. Anyone missing the deadline will be put on a waiting list.
3. Prior to the first game of the Program, a $50 individual and a $250 team administration fee will be deducted on all requested refunds.
4. There will be no refunds after the registration deadline of the season.
5. Teams are placed in the leagues based on their gender and academic grade of their oldest player.
6. All participants in the Basketball program agree to abide by COVID protocol as required by the Howard County Health Department.
7. The Program is planned for eight Fridays. The number of games could be less due to circumstances beyond the control of HYBA, including, but not limited to: unscheduled school closings, emergency school closings, gym cancellations due to weather-related emergencies, and team forfeitures.
Selecting "I agree" hereby registers the below team’s children as participants in the Basketball program. I certify that I am the parent or legal guardian of said children or obtained consent from the children’s parents or legal guardians and hold harmless the H.Y.B.A. from any and all liability for any injury, illness or condition that may arise as a result of participation in this program. I certify as a coach/volunteer I hold harmless the HYBA, Inc. from any and all liability for injury, illness, or condition that may arise as a result of participation in this program. I also certify that the above child’s age and academic grade are accurate as indicated.

Awareness of the following information is required by law to register for sports programs.
What is a concussion?
A concussion is a type of brain injury that changes the way the brain normally works. A concussion is caused by a bump, blow, or jolt to the head. Concussions can also occur from a blow to the body that causes the head and brain to move rapidly back and forth. Even what seems to be a mild blow to the head can be serious.
What are some warning signs of a concussion?
For Immediate Attention Call 911
Signs Observed by a Parent/Guardian
• Appears dazed or stunned
• Is confused about assignment or position
• Forgets sports plays
• Is unsure of game, score, or opponent
• Moves clumsily
• Answers questions slowly
• Loses consciousness (even briefly)
• Shows behavior or personality changes
• Can’t recall events prior to hit or fall
• Can’t recall events after hit or fall Signs Reported by the Athlete • Headache or “pressure” in the head
• Nausea or vomiting
• Balance problems or dizziness
• Double or blurry vision
• Sensitivity to light
• Sensitivity to noise
• Feeling sluggish, hazy, or groggy
• Concentration or memory problems
• Confusion
• Does not "feel right"
What should you do if you think a concussion has occurred?
1. Seek medical attention right away.
a. A health care professional will be able to decide how serious the concussion is and when it is safe to return to play.
2. Keep your child out of play until medically cleared.
a. Concussions take time to heal. Don’t let your child return to play until a health care professional says it’s okay. Children who return to play too soon, while the brain is still healing, risk a greater chance of having a second concussion. Second or later concussions can be very serious. They can cause permanent brain damage, affecting your child for a lifetime.
3. Inform all coaches about any recent concussions.
a. Coaches should know if your child has had a recent concussion. Your child’s coach may not know about a concussion your child received in another sport or activity unless you tell them.
4. Help your child return to sports safely after a concussion.
a. As your child’s symptoms decrease, the extra help or support can be removed gradually.
Children and teens who return to activities after a concussion may need to:
i. Take rest breaks as needed;
ii. Spend fewers hours at activities; and
iii. If in doubt, sit it out!

All persons serving as a coach or other volunteer for HYBA's upcoming season much be 21 years of age or older.

HYBA does not supply Travel Teams with uniforms. Travel Teams are responsible for providing and wearing their own uniforms to participate in HYBA.
